IT'S TIME TO STAND UP FOR AMERICA!

Throughout its history, The United States of America has faced many difficult times, but never has there been a crisis of confidence such as is now sweeping across the nation.

Of course, every nation needs to be aware of its failures and shortcomings, and must constantly work towards improvement. In every nation there will always be much to criticise and much to improve. But now, from both within America and from around the world, comes a relentless blast of negativity. America's critics are holding the stage and their attacks are hitting home. Americans are losing their essential optimism and are questioning their belief in their country and its future.

We believe it is time we set down the facts about American achievement and prove that America not only has a glorious past, but a prosperous future. The generous, free and creative society that has been so successful for so long, will continue to be the guiding light for that is good and great in human civilisation. By every measure -- economic, social, cultural, scientific and military -- the United States is the most successful nation in history. For more than 200 years the U.S.A. has been the world's principal promoter and protector of individual liberty. Without America the world would be ruled by despots and dictators, and it remains today the powerful leader and protector of the free world.


Letter to America provides an opportunity for all Americans and their friends around the world to celebrate and chronicle all that is fine and noble about the U.S.A.

- America is the world's oldest exisiting democratic republic? Key aspects of the U.S. Constitution have been incorporated into the written charters of 170 nations worldwide, including those of France, Germany and Japan.

- America is by far the world's largest provider of economic aid and disaster relief

- America gives sanctuary to more oppressed people than any other nation

- Of allied troops who have fought the Taliban and Al Qaeda fascists in Afghanistan, two thirds are American.

Maybe you can add to the list of America's greatest gifts to the world -- actions that have led to the betterment of mankind. You might like to point to something about the industry or government agency you work in, or the state you come from. There is much to acknowledge about America's powerful artistic culture, her music, art, theatre, movies and TV; her actors, dancers, singers, poets and writers. What about your amazingly productive economy (the world's largest), or one of her many charitable institutions, large and small. Pehaps you know of one area of American achievement in science and technology or perhaps environmental conservation. What about America's defence of citizens' rights and her extraordinary legal system, her military power, her generous aid to other nations, the beauty of her land or some aspect of her ongoing and heroic sacrifices in the defense of freedom. If you don't know of any facts yourself, perhaps you could help by researching a subject on the internet and adding the facts you find.
